Depression and losing out memory

Asked for Female, 75 Years

My mother is having this problem. She cannot come out of my father death before 25 years. In earlier years she was busy in our grown up but now she has no activity to do. She does not have any company of her age . Memory loss is the cause of depression ???

Sorry to hear about your mother's difficulties. Prolonged grief can cause depression, which in turn can affect concentration and thus result in difficulty with recall/memory. Also given her age, dementia cannot be ruled out. Hence she would benefit from a thorough assessment by psychiatrist, who can suggest treatment and support accordingly. Best wishes.
