Depressed- doctor or counsellor?
I've visited a counsellor and as per her diagnosis , I'm having severe depression. I'm being asked to start therapy including CBT. I'm not sure whether counselling will help me or not. How do I understand that i need to visit a doctor and start medication. I don't want to be late.

Hi If the counsellor has made this diagnosis, then CBT is the recommended treatment for this. However if the depression is severe, a combination of medicines and CBT is recommended.  Please discuss the need for medicine with your counsellor. Regards.
