Hi, there are 2 types of retainers: 1.bonded retainers which are fixed to the inner side of the teeth and 2.removable retainers that can be placed and removed by the patient. From your query its clear you were given a removable retainer by your dentist. Cost of removable retainer costs Rs. 1500-2000 each for upper and lower teeth while the cost of bonded retainer will cost you 3000 each for upper and lower teeth. Bonded retainer are easy to maintain and since they are fixed you don't need to take them out and clean them separately and hence no chance of losing them. Retainers are an integral part of orthodontic or braces treatment because if you don't wear them then gradually the teeth move back to their previous positions. Retainers help in maintaining the effects of your braces treatment.
