Caries in wisdom teeth is common because they are difficult to clean. If proper access to wisdom tooth is possible , they can be cleaned , filled and even root canal can be done. If all above is not possible, last resort is to extract them. You should go for proper check up and X rays to evaluate whether teeth can be saved or should be extracted. A general dentist can do extraction but for difficult/ surgical extraction Oral Surgeon is recommended.

Hello Wisdom teeth are prone for caries as they are the last teeth in the arch and very difficult to clean. The usual treatment is extraction of the tooth as they are not properly placed in the arch. Important is that the case should be managed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as we specialise in the management of such cases. You can contact me for any further queries.
