I live in Rajgir, Bihar. A neighbour living above my flat sprays insecticide, sometimes throws soil, Kala Til, dry leaves, sindoor, bundles of hair soaked in insecticide, in my balcony or on my main door. Due to its effect, I feel burning sensation in my whole body, pain in my legs and head. She does Tona-Totka on me, but my husband does not believe it, hence the environment of home becomes quarrelsome every now and then. When I ask my neighbour not to do all these things, she says "Have you ever seen me doing so ? In the evening, whenever I go to temple, she sends either sweeper or watchman behind me to disturb me. I have been suffering from these types of events since 2020, when I was in Muzaffarpur. The place changes, but my enemies are there to disturb me. I am in great trouble and need solution.

It sounds like you are experiencing high stress from your neighbourâs behaviour and from the belief that people are repeatedly targeting you through harmful acts (like insecticide, hair, soil, or âtona-totkaâ). Even if your neighbour denies it, the repeated distress and fear you feel are very real for you. Long-term stress of this nature can cause body symptoms like burning sensation, leg pain, or headaches. This situation has been going on for years, which shows how heavy a burden it has become for you.
Next Steps
Safety first: If you feel your neighbour is throwing harmful substances (insecticide etc.), keep photo or video evidence, and you may file a complaint with the local police or society management. Medical support: Burning sensations, headaches, and pain can also come from stress or nerve issues, so please consult a physician/neurologist as well. Mental health support: Since this fear and tension have lasted many years, I strongly suggest meeting a psychiatrist or psychologist. They can help you reduce the constant anxiety, check if there is an underlying condition making the fear stronger, and give you coping strategies.
Health Tips
Practice grounding techniques (deep breathing, counting, or focusing on safe surroundings) when you feel attacked or overwhelmed. Keep communication calm with your husband â rather than quarrelling, explain how these events make you feel, not just what happened. Write a daily log of incidents (time, date, what was seen/felt) â this helps both for clarity and if you need to show evidence. If possible, involve a trusted family member or community elder who can mediate between you and the neighbour to reduce conflict.
Hi,
Mrs. Saroj Sinha, it is very unfortunate that you are going through such distressing experiences, and your sufferingâboth physical and emotionalâshould not be ignored. The repeated incidents of harmful substances like insecticide, soil, dry leaves, sindoor, and hair being thrown near your living space, along with the suspicion of *tona-totka*, are causing you genuine pain and anxiety. It is even more difficult when your concerns are not fully believed or supported within your own home, which is meant to be a place of peace. Regardless of whether these acts are done intentionally to harm you or not, the fact remains that your health and well-being are being affected. It is important to take steps for your safety, such as documenting these incidents, installing a small CCTV camera if possible, consulting a doctor about your physical symptoms, and reporting the matter to your local police or municipality. Emotional support is equally importantâconsider speaking to a counselor or womenâs support group who can understand your feelings without judgment. Please remember, no matter how strong someone elseâs actions may feel, your strength, faith, and rightful action are stronger. You do not have to suffer in silenceâthere is help available, and you deserve peace and protection in your own home.
Hi,
I feel your pain, What you describe, persistent belief that others harm you with sprays, objects, or following, matches persecutory delusions under DSM-5 psychotic spectrum disorders. The suffering is real, even if others don’t see it.
Next Steps
Urgently meet a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment.
Involve your husband so he understands this is a medical condition, not imagination.
Practice calming routines, breathing, prayer, journaling, to ease distress until medical help.
You deserve peace and relief.
Health Tips
Stay calm, breathe slow.
Limit arguments, save energy.
Share feelings, not blame.
Keep routine steady.
Seek doctor support soon.
Remind yourself: “I need care, not conflict.”
Your wife is experiencing persistent distressing beliefs of being harmed by neighbors, with associated physical discomfort and family conflict. Such symptoms may be linked to psychiatric conditions such as paranoia, psychosis, or delusional disorder, though medical causes should also be ruled out.
Next Steps
It is important to consult a psychiatrist in Rajgir or nearby cities for a detailed evaluation. If she resists, you can begin with a general physician to assess physical symptoms and guide further care. Avoid direct confrontation with neighbors and instead document any verifiable incidents.
Health Tips
Offer calm reassurance rather than arguments, encourage a healthy routine with proper sleep and stress reduction, and consider counselling or therapy to develop coping strategies.
Hi,
I can understand how distressing these experiences must feel for you. The symptoms you describe — feeling that neighbors are throwing harmful substances, sensing burning in your body, and believing people are following you — suggest you may be going through a psychiatric condition such as delusional disorder or severe anxiety. These experiences feel very real to you, which is why they are causing so much pain and tension at home.
Next Steps
The best step is to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible. Proper evaluation and treatment (which may include medication along with counseling) can help reduce these symptoms and bring relief. Support from a psychologist can also help you cope with the fear and anxiety in a safe way.
Health Tips
Avoid arguments at home regarding whether these events are “real” or not — instead, focus on getting medical help.
• Encourage regular sleep, balanced meals, and gentle activities to reduce stress.
• If symptoms worsen or she appears unsafe, seek urgent psychiatric support immediately.
With the right care, these symptoms can be managed and her quality of life can improve.
The experiences you describe suggest you may be going through delusions and possibly hallucinations, which can be very distressing and affect daily life and relationships. These symptoms are usually linked to psychiatric conditions that require professional help. I strongly recommend consulting a psychiatrist for proper evaluation and treatment, as medication is often needed to manage such symptoms. Alongside this, working with a psychologist can also help you and your family cope with the stress and offer some relief.
She need to consult a Psychiatrist immediately. She is having delusion of persecution, which is found in many severe mental health conditions. Nothing to worry, right treatment at right time can bring good outcome.
