Deep cut on finger, scar inflexible

Asked for Male, 24 Years

I had a deep cut on index finger, outer side of palm, 2cm below nail, when my hand hit ceiling fan. Got the wound stitched and removed after 10 days. I didnt make fist for 20 days. Xray shown no fracture. It has been 4 weeks since the incident but it still pains when i try to make a fist. It pains as wound stretches and the flexibility of skin has decreased. What should I do?

Hi. Hand injuries even if small can be extremely painful and if not managed with required physiotherapy may be quite troublesome. Even with pain are you able to flex and extend the finger(bend inside and outside)? I.e how deep was the cut?

Next Steps

If there was no tendon injury then all you need is good physiotherapy and massaging of the scar area and keeping it supple with good moisturiser (even coconut oil serves the purpose) and silicone gels. However, if there is no movement at all then u will have to looked at once..
