I have a reading of 570ng/ml in D Dimer test. Is it normal? I have been having breathing issues from last few years accompanied by chest pain or tightness but my echo and ecg is normal.

D dimer level is high.As your ECG, echo are normal, the cause of chest pain needs to evaluated, specially for the lung issues like embolism, though possibility is rare ,high d dimer can not be ignored.

Your D dimer test result is very high. Please consult a General Physician in your area for a physical examination and a few investigations. This can't be ignored.

Thank you for your query. A D-dimer level of 570 ng/mL is generally considered elevated, as the normal cutoff is typically below 500 ng/mL. Given your symptoms of breathing issues and chest pain/tightness, an elevated D-dimer is a finding that needs to be taken seriously, as it can sometimes indicate the presence of a blood clot, such as a pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). While your ECG and Echo were normal, these tests do not definitively rule out a pulmonary embolism.
Next Steps
I advise you to seek medical evaluation, they will likely recommend further test as its important to rule out this condition.

D-dimer level of 570 ng/mL is slightly elevated, as the typical cutoff for normal levels is below 500 ng/mL While an elevated D-dimer can indicate increased clot breakdown, it does not necessarily confirm a serious condition on its own. Since you have **persistent breathing issues and chest tightness**, it’s important to consult a doctor for further evaluation. While your **ECG and Echo are normal**, these tests do not rule out conditions like **pulmonary embolism (PE) or other clot-related concerns you may be recommend additional tests such as a **CT pulmonary angiography** or **Doppler ultrasound** to assess clot risks.
