My 8 year son was diagnosed with cylindrical power of 3 in one eye and 2 in another eye, no spherical power. Whether it is serious ? Doctor said that it is because of size of cornea. He has done slit lamp test and advised for follow up after 6 months.
Whether I should do any other test for my son ? And what are the precautions I have to take that it won't further increase.
Thank you in advance.

Talk to experienced eye specialist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
Its not that serious problem.
You have to insist on using the specs regularly.
And
Get the refraction done initially every 6 months for 2to3 times and if the number remains constant then it can be repeated annually
But
If the cylindrical power increases .you must get the corneal topography done. For a baseline measurement.
The only matter of anxiety will be if there is no satisfactory improvement inspite of specs.
Pl use Spectacles regularly, constantly. Pl consult ophthalmologist with detailed history and reports and treatment taken for better evaluation and treatment. Pl have regular check ups, every 6 months.pl encourage him to wear the glasses continuously, and allow him to go for outdoor games.
