CT Coronary Angiography
A year back I have undergone CT Coronary Angiography which the results show normal with zero calcium score. Then why do I suffer from chest pain regularly. What can be the reason.? What is the validity of CT Coronary angiography..? I mean if the report is normal then when should I get it tested back. I have high LDL cholesterol for which I am on medication. Please guide.

Good morning and thanks. If the CTCA is normal, one should look for other causes for chest pain. It could be your food pipe (oesophagus), lungs, pleura, chest wall or organs below the diaphragm. Before embarking on statin, you should be assessed for the risk of developing CHD/CVA over 10 yr period. If the risk is high, then only you should be on statin. Otherwise life style modification is enough. CTCA is around 90% sensitive and specific. You shouldn't keep repeating it unless recommended by your doctor and no guidelines about when to repeat. Sorry for my delayed reply and if you are concerned, kindly let me know. Best wishes Dr R Muthusamy
