Cricopharyngeal Web can be congenital or developed due to GERD or other gastric and oesophageal issues.
It hampers the neuromuscular coordination of the oesophageal muscles. The web-like structure in the oesophageal muscles wall can cause difficulty in swallowing.
It needs to be treated in a holistic approach for complete recovery.
Holistic approach is -
1. Surgery for oesophageal dilatation if pain and difficulty in swallowing.
2. Homeopathic medicine before and after surgery to reduce inflammation of the oesophagus, to decrease the recurrence of the web and to correct other underlying GI causes which might trigger the problem again.
You need an expert Gastroenterologist and Homeopathic physician asap.
Just doing surgery may not be helpful for a long time. The chances of recurrence are high.
Next Steps
I have been working as a Homeopathic doctor for the last 17 years of experience, you can contact me through an online appointment for further assistance.
Dear, I can understand how worrying it must have been for you to see your child struggle with swallowing for so many years. You did the right thing by pursuing proper evaluation and treatment, and it’s good that the cause has now been clearly identified.
A cricopharyngeal web is a structural narrowing in the upper part of the esophagus. Endoscopic dilatation is the standard and appropriate treatment, and in many children it gives significant relief. In a good number of cases, the improvement is long-lasting, but it is also true that some children may need repeat dilatation over time, especially if there is a tendency for the tissue to tighten again during growth.
Whether it can be called “permanent” depends on the individual child—the thickness of the web, healing response, associated reflux or inflammation, and overall neuromuscular coordination of swallowing. Regular follow-up with the gastroenterologist is important to monitor symptoms and catch any recurrence early.
From a holistic point of view, supportive treatment can help by reducing local inflammation, improving muscular coordination, digestion, and overall tissue health, which may reduce the chances of recurrence and support smoother swallowing as your child grows. This kind of supportive care works best when guided individually and alongside regular medical follow-up,
With proper monitoring and supportive care, many children go on to eat and grow normally and comfortably.

Hello,
I understand your concern..difficulty in swallowing for a child over several years can be very distressing for parents.
A cricopharyngeal web is a structural abnormality of the upper oesophagus. Endoscopic dilatation, as advised by the gastroenterologist, is the standard and appropriate primary treatment, especially when swallowing is significantly affected. It is important to continue follow-up with your treating specialist.
From a homoeopathic perspective, it is important to be clear and honest:
• Homoeopathy does not physically remove a web or membrane
• However, it may help as a supportive treatment by
• Reducing irritation and spasm
• Improving swallowing comfort
• Supporting overall digestion and nutrition
• Reducing the tendency for recurrence in some cases
In children, treatment must be very gentle, individualised, and coordinated with conventional care. No timelines or guarantees of “permanent cure” should be promised, especially in structural conditions.
Next Steps
1. Continue regular follow-up with the gastroenterologist
2. Monitor swallowing, weight gain, and nutrition closely
3. Avoid forcing solid foods if discomfort persists
4. If opting for homoeopathy, consult for a detailed paediatric case evaluation
5. Inform both doctors so care remains coordinated and safe

Hello.
I wont give you false hope.
Cricopharyngeal web is due to in vitro iron deficiency .
Medicine will temporarily reduce the pain and other effect
But this cannot be cured with medicine , surgery is the best option.
Your child has a cricopharyngeal web, which is a thin membrane in the upper esophagus that can cause difficulty swallowing (dysphagia). The standard treatment, as done in your case, is endoscopic dilation, where the web is stretched or cut to allow food to pass more easily.
I’ll need to take a proper case of your child with all it’s history which includes mothers pregnancy history as well as your child is just 9 years old
I also need to see all her reports so a good and desired treatment can be given
I can atleast give you the assurance that your child will not face any problem in his/her further ages if is provided a proper treatment but for that a very proper case taking and understanding the situation of your child is required
As effect of different homeopathic medicine is different for different patient as per their individuality so I’ll advice u to get more precised medicine for complete cure of Your child
