The gastritis could be the cause of your constipation. You should have lifestyle changes which will give you relief as medications are supportive in treatment. The gastritis can be controlled by antacids and the constipation can be controlled by laxatives. The following lifestyle changes would help you in your situation: - Don't skip meals, you may not feel like eating but in such conditions you should have the reduced amount in frequent intervals(i.e. 3 square meals broken down to 5 or 6 as you can tolerate) and slowly increase as you get better. - Reduce/ Avoid spicy, fried, fatty, junk and oily food - Avoid/ Limit drinking coffee, tea and carbonated drinks to once a day - Exercise regularly (30-45 mins of cardio exercises everyday) - Increase daily intake of water to 3 liters - Avoid/Stop smoking and drinking if you have the habit - Reduce stress through methods such as yoga/meditation. - Eat food rich in fiber and bran based cereals. - Avoid painkillers as it will increase your gastric problems at this moment If the condition persists or worsens you should visit a gastroenterologist and undergo investigations such as colonoscopy(if indicated), endoscopy(if indicated) so that the underlying cause can be found and treated accordingly.

causes for constipation are many 1. Inadequate fibre intake 2.Not chewing the food properly / eating hurriedly. 3.Reduced water intake. 4.Various medications 5.Iron supplements 6.Antidepressants, tri-cyclic anti-depressants,Anti-convulsants 7.Diuretics 8.Stopping cigarette smoking. 9.Abuse of laxatives. 10.Medications containing calcium and aluminium. 11.Endocrine disorders like - under active thyroid. 12.Any severe illness like stroke, paralysis. 13.Major changes in life like pregnancy, old-age or traveling. 14.Psychosomatic causes like depression and anxiety neurosis. 15.Biochemical imbalance ' low potassium levels in blood. 16.Conditions that obstruct the normal passage of the stools within the intestines ' foreign bodies in intestines, strictures, adhesions, tumors, etc. 17.Irritable bowel syndrome' where it alternates with diarrhea. The first line of treatment that almost everyone resorts to is that of taking laxatives. It is likely to be any of the most frequently advertised one bought over the counter. It may even be something recommended by an elder in the family. The biggest disadvantage of such laxatives is that they are habit forming. Once you start taking them, you cannot leave them. Otherwise, you will not be able to evacuate your bowels in a satisfactory manner. Here, Homeopathy offers the biggest advantage. The homeopathic medicines do not work as laxatives. This means that you should not expect them to work as short term quick fixes. Rather, they work to improve the digestive system which has lost its proper and smooth functioning. The peristaltic movement of the intestines, which is responsible for pushing out the waste matter is often compromised in patients who are constipated. Homeopathy intends to cure the root cause of constipation. It is therefore natural that these medicines are going to take some time to get things going. Ultimately, it is effective at restoring this peristaltic movement to the normal self.
