Concerns regarding eye Injury
1.If a person gets blunt trauma to the eye , does it temporarily raise eye pressure. Is hyphema the main cause of increased IOP or a hit to the eye without hyphema can also cause this. 2. Is this temporary eye pressure also damaging to the eye. Do doctors control temporary increased IOP also with drops? Or more concerning is the increased IOP on account of angle recession into later years of life. 3. Last point. If years after trauma, eye check with gonioscopy shows no angle recession, does patient still need to follow up for pressure checks to prevent traumatic glaucoma or no angle recession means that patient is safe.

1. Temporary rise in IOP can be because of hyphema post trauma. 2. Temporary rise in IOP usually doesn't have any long term effects as it is well controlled with drops. Angle recession can cause raised IOP usually after 100 days of trauma. This thing is difficult to control with eyedrops. 3. If angle recession doesn't develop even after years of trauma, there is a very low possibility of developing the same. But still it's mandatory to get IOP checked annually just to be on the safer side.
