My Daughter's Birth Weight was 2.6 kg. After 75 days her weight is 3.65 kg. Exclusively breastfeeding her.
Initial weeks her weight gain was lesser. Now she is increasing about 150-170gms per week.
I feel she should be given Formula milk topping.
But my Pediatrician is saying if the weight gain is showing an upward trend then no need of Formula. I am not convinced somehow.
Please suggest what need to be done !

Please do breastfeed frequently. Babies lose weight in the initial 7 days of their life, then start to to gain weight more than birth weight by 10 days. If gaining weight 20 to 30 grams per day then it is adequate. Formula feed will also increase the chance of infection in baby. So exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for 6 months of age.

Weight gain should be between 150 to 210 gm per week and it is there.
So continue breastfeeding.
I think the first 2 or 3 weeks, the weight gain may not had been satisfactory so child's present weight is not 4kg.
But need not to worry, continue your efforts.
No formula milk as after all it is a chemical, majority dairy base so why to harm to child who is growing well.
Formula shouldnt be used as it is a trend. It is for cases were breastfeeding is not established.
