Commitment Phobia and Narcissist
My Partner of 4 years has commitment phobia. He doesnt like to take responsibility in life and doesnt value relationships much. Always puts own self at priority. Shuts down himself if somebody tries to go close or understand his situation or tries building his trust. He didnt have a very happy childhood and unsupported parents. Is there any chance of improvement by any psychiatric treatment?

Yes life coaching approach in such cases might be helpful as the person might not be ready for therapy. There will be a lot of denial and problems that the persona might be facing. I appreciate that you are supporting him and looking for help.

Health Tips
Working on his denial and making him see issues he is facing can help him start with a new action plan. There are very high chances of relapse but again continuously effort is required in such cases.
