My mom is having a CKD since 10 years but she is not on dialysis.. Now her creatinine is flactuating between 4.4,3.7,3.9,4.8 and 4.4 from january till today...urea is 68,77and 52 today...does she require dialysis now or in near future...she is diabetic,hypertensive and hypothyroid.

Initiation of Dialysis depends mainly on symptoms like decreased Appetite, altered sleep pattern, decreased urine output, difficulty in breathing, severe fluid accumulation in the body -which are not responding medication, lab values are not the only one which decide dialysis initiation.. Therefore follow CKD diet, medication adherence, watch fluid intake, no over the counter drugs esp. pain killers, watch for symptoms Repeat RFT, serum electrolytes monthly
