My 2 year old son is throwing lot of tantrums, hits out at family members, throws his food and toys etc, shouting and shrieking etc. How should one handle him? As frankly it's becoming quite a nuisance

The basic treatment of tantrum throwing,at any age is IGNORING the child,if you agree to his demands at that particular moment,he'll never stop.
Important to remember,though,destructive behavior or harming self or others physically requires counselling by a child psychologist.
