Chest infection in ckd patient
Hi , My father is 76 year old having ckd (creat 6) and hypertension from last 4-5 years and on supportive medicine for ckd. However from last week he is having cough and weakness . He had completed azythromycine course but its not improving. Which other antibiotics he can take which is safe for kidney. Also acetylcystein 600 is safe for ckd patient or not?

Please do not take over the counter antibiotics. He needs to be evaluated in person by a physician/pulmonologist or his regular treating nephrologist before starting meds

There is no evidence that he may have an infection or not. So dont start any antibiotics without doing the basic labs. Cough and weakness also maybe due to fluid in lungs. So do a Complete blood count CRP Chest xray Acetylcystiene is safe for kidney 600mg dose may be mucinac which is a mucolytic thereby causing him to cough out the phlegm

U will need to consult pulmonologist for treatment , as he seems to hv allergic Bronch oyster than infection. Get his cbc and chest xray done

don't just rush antibiotics..she is already immunocompromised..nac is ok but need to see her reports in detail
