Where exactly has the carcinoma spread. Because if it's limited metastasis, there are many new therapies and surgeries available for management and rarely long term remission.. If it has spread far and wide them chemotherapy is the only option. The usual chemotherapy agents used in colon cancer are one of the following namely : 5FU, capecitabine, oxaliplatin, irinotecan and cetuximab. Most of the drugs are well tolerated. Rash is the commonest complaint along with nausea, occasionally vomiting and one problem called neuropathy where patients get tingling and numbness of hand and feet. The blood cells also increase. However in many patients the chemotherapy for colon cancer is well tolerated.
