Centipede bite scare
I had a scary episode recently where after using the toilet seat, when I got up, I saw that there is a long centipede inside the water of the seat. It was trying to crowl up again and again, and since it was light, it kept floating and kept coming out of water. I'm scared that it may have bit me, although I did not feel any pain or burning in my buttocks/private parts but I'm still scared as these are sensitive parts of the body. Do I have anything to worry about or anything needed? Im thinking from the perspective that even if it bit me, would it cause any danger? I checked my body and do not see any bite but I thought it's best to be sure. I'm thankful to your valuable advice

Based on your description, if you had no pain, burning, swelling, or visible bite mark, a centipede bite is unlikely. Even if a bite occurred, serious complications are uncommon, although local pain and swelling can develop. Gently wash the area with soap and water; avoid unnecessary medications. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop severe pain, increasing swelling, fever, or difficulty breathing. If you remain concerned, book a consultation for proper evaluation and reassurance.

Hello, I understand your concern. However, based on your description, a centipede bite is highly unlikely. Centipede bites typically cause immediate sharp pain or burning, redness, tenderness, and sometimes swelling at the affected area. Since you experienced no pain, burning, swelling, or visible bite marks, there is no clear evidence that a bite occurred. Even when a centipede bite occurs, most cases cause only localised symptoms and are not life-threatening in otherwise healthy adults. There is no indication for preventive medication or treatment based on the incident you described.
Next Steps
No specific medication or investigation is required if you remain completely symptom-free. Maintain normal personal hygiene and wash the area gently if you suspect any contact. If a painful bite develops, clean the affected area with soap and water and apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes. If the skin was actually punctured, consult a physician regarding wound care and tetanus vaccination status. Seek medical evaluation if redness, swelling, increasing pain, or other unusual symptoms develop.
Health Tips
My recommendation: Since you did not feel a bite and have no visible marks or symptoms, there is no reason to assume that the centipede injured you. Centipede bites are generally painful and noticeable. Serious reactions are uncommon. Seek medical attention if you develop breathing difficulty, swelling of the lips or tongue, widespread hives, dizziness, or fainting, as these may indicate a severe allergic reaction. There is no need for antibiotics, antivenom, or other preventive medicines in your current situation. Please be reassured that the incident you described is very unlikely to cause any harm. Wishing you good health!

Centipedes aren't dangerous from a brief contact like this, and since you checked and found no bite mark, swelling or pain, there's nothing here that needs treatment. What you're describing sounds like the fright of the moment rather than an actual bite.
Next Steps
Just keep an eye on the area for a day or two for any redness, swelling or pain that comes up later.
Health Tips
See a general physician if a puncture mark, spreading redness or pain shows up, though that's unlikely from what you've described.
