Cavity and Dental x ray
I have a pit and fissure cavity ( what i feel based on seeing it ) in my 1st molar right side bottom side . it creates a dull pain when i eat or drink anything. I saw my dentist , upon examination , he said the pain is due to my wisdom tooth coming out . But i not sure whether is it really because of wisdom tooth coming out because if it was the case then my 2nd molars on the same would also hurt because of wisdom tooth erupting but that tooth is painfree . I fear that the pain is due to cavity since it's only affecting that one tooth which i wrote in the beginning. Can i request my dentist for dental X-Ray of the tooth which may help clear doubt regarding it ? I hope dentist don't feel offended if I request it because I don't want to be seen as someone doubting their diagnosis. I just want to double check that's why.

Hello, From the picture that you’ve shared, the cavity that has developed is not deep enough clinically to cause pain. However a radiographic examination is must to know the exact depth of the cavity. And about the wisdom tooth, they are known to cause referred pain, also food lodgement could be the reason.
Next Steps
Ask for an X-ray of all three molars to confirm the exact cause of the pain.
Health Tips
Until then gargling with warm water with a pinch of salt could be helpful.

You can take xray of 1st,2nd and 3rd molar tooth and based on that dentist can find out the exact cause of pain.without xray we cannot confirm diagnosis. If 1st molar is decayed get it filled if 3rd molar is impacted or food lodgement associated  ,get it removed.

The cavity in your molar is not big enough to cause you pain. To know the depth of the decay you can get an x ray done which will help rule out the exact cause of pain. Your erupting wisdom tooth can also be the cause of your pain. X ray is  needed for confirmation.  You can ask your dentist for the same.

Yes, an xray should be done to verify. But your picture suggests that the cavity is not deep enough to cause severe lingering pain. Your impacted third molar may be the factor as your dentist pointed out. Still, an xray will provide the final diagnosis.

From the picture you provided... The cavity doesn't look large enough to cause any noticeable pain but yes an x-ray to confirm its depth would be advice. Also, a wisdom tooth eruption can cause referred pain which might not always be in the area of eruption. So further investigation is adviced. 👍🏼

Well, information regarding wisdom tooth is not available (neither clinical image nor radiological image), so its impossible to comment on that. However that tooth ( 1st molar) definitely needs restorative treatment You're saying its pit and fissure caries, however appearances can be deceiving . After a proper radiological examination, exact extent of the caries can be determined
