Cataract surgery
My dad is 65 yr old, he needs to go cataract surgery, doctor suggested replacement of lens with artificial one, is that safe? Is there any risk involved.
Or should i go for laser treatment

Hello
Cataract surgery has good results but depends on individual case. The vision gained post surgery depends on how good his macular function is. Get his retina checked thoroughly and inform the treating doctor about any other co morbidities especially diabetes and hypertension. The surgery is very safe.
In cataract surgery, the age related cataractous lens is replaced with a clear artificial lens. Its of 2 types mainly.. One done with a small incision and the other is phacoemulsification. Phaco has better results depending on individual case.

Cataract surgery with Artificial Lens implantation is a regular surgery with 98/99 percent success rate! There is very small risk associated with any procedure, but for all practical purposes, it is very safe.
