She is afraid of closing of other eye during operation. Can cataract operation be done under general anaesthesia? A cataract has been diagnosed in her left eye.

Cataract is very simple surgery
It is painless surgery
Usually it is under under local anaesthetic
But if your mother is afraid,it can be done under light sedation
GA can be given but not required

Cataract surgery is usually done under local anaesthesia (administered by eye drops or injection near the eye). But rarely, in case the patient is not cooperative or apprehensive, it can be done under general anaesthesia.
Hello...cataract surgery is done under local retrobulbar anesthesia....it's not done under general anesthesia....many undergo cataract surgery...her blood glucose and blood pressure levels should be under control .....it helps in fast healing of wounds...consult ophthalmologist
