Carpel tunnel syndrome
Hello Doctor, I have been detected with carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right hand. The NCS/EP'S /EMG Report shows -B/L Median motor study shows prolonged distal latency R>L and CMAP amp with normal NCV. B/L median sensory study shows reduced AMP and NCV Right >left . B/L ulnar motor and sensory study is normal. Impression -B/L Median demyelinating sensory and motor neuropathy at wrist consistent with severe B/L carpal tunnel syndrome on the right side and mild carpal tunnel syndrome on the left side. I have consulted two doctors in last 1 week first an orthopedic surgeon and second an neuropathy surgeon both have advised me to go for carpel tunnel release surgery. My question is who performs this surgery , who is a better choice to treat this (orthopedic doctor or a neurologist surgeon) ?? Secondly there are two types of surgery , apart from open surgery -microscopic and endoscopic which one is more successful in healing with this ??? Sunanda Bangalore
