Such as Parkinson's disease.

Then why does have such devastating side effects eg Parkinson's disease symptoms.

Its not Parkinson’s and any anti psychotic can have such side effect but with proper monitoring it won’t be a problem

Unfortunately, the antipsychotic medicines that we use act on the parts of the brain that are involved in many other functions. Hence there are adverse effects. The reason why antipsychotic medications are not given over the counter and without a proper prescription is because these medicines need to be taken properly and the side effects of the medicines need to be explained to the patient. Not all patients experience the side effects however and there are other medicines that can be tried if the side effects are significant and distressing.

It's still a very new drug. Although evidence it has very less side effects but actual clinical practice is different. If you have side effects you can talk to your doctor to change the medication.

It has to be seen whether it is parkinsons disease or just drug induced parkinsonism( common side effect of many antipsychotics)
Not all patients have this side effect.
Its a reversible side effect and can go away easily by treating it.
