Can filariasis be treated with drugs

Asked for Male, 15 Years

I, male, 15, had this problem of swelling on legs and some other parts. Blood report have confirmed it to be filariasis. Have heard it cannot be treated but it goes away on its own. But doctor has prescribed drugs to be taken almost for a month. Can filariasis be treated by drugs?
