C1-C2 fusion
What are the risk of removing C1-C2 fusion implants? I had the surgery 2 years ago and I am in a lot of pain.

Kindly do not haste to remove the implants. This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information . However I would like to examine & investigate you  in detail. -Control  Hypertension, Diabetes or  metabolic disorder, if there is any. -Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg] 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus  (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. -(You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.) --. Fomentation with warm water. Let the part not be exposed to cold. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Use no pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. -- .Do mild exercises for the affected part-ie.neck and shoulders. --.(Take help of physiotherapist or you can visit my you tube channel Dr NC Gupta Yoga Simplified). You need to elaborate your issue on 1. Incident for surgery I.e trauma, congenital instability? 2. Type of implant wire or polyaxial screw. 3. Pain intensity 4. Other associated problem, if any.

It is not a usual protocol to remove Spinal implants. Except in few extraordinary situations. One needs to rule out instability and Neurological compression.

Wear a Philadelphia neck collar, avoid excessive neck movements, jerky rides. Consult your Neurosurgeon for further evaluation. Avoid smoking, tobacco. Consume Calcium rich foods.
