My eyes burn a lot nowadays, thanks to my laptop which has to be in front of me for a good 12 hours in a day...eyes start burning during evenings and in the night post my work schedule... any advice ?

Yes it's computer vision syndrome please use lubricant eye

And in addition. Wash your eyes with freshwater and consume lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and also do cold compresses with ice.
It is called as computer vision syndrome . Following measures are recommended :
1. The level of the top of your screen should be at your eye level
2. Never work facing an ac or cooler . It should be on top, back or sides
3. Area behind the screen should not have any bright light
4. Follow 20 -20 -20 rule . After every 20 mins look at a far object and blink 20 times in 20 seconds
5. Take small breaks in between work on computers
6. U can take lubricating drops like refresh tears thrice a day if above measures don't help
7. If still the problem continues pls visit an ophthalmologist
