Broncoscopy
My 68 yr old mother has severe sleep apnea and post Covid lung fibrosis.. In her CT scan it says "Soft tissue attenuation lesion in RUL as described. Neoplastic etiology merits consideration" So my lung doctor suggested a bronchoscopy.. Should we do it? Is it necessary?

A bronchoscopy can be considered if the CT says about any bronchial cut off which means the lesion could be visible through doing a scopy from where a biopsy can be taken. If it is a peripheral lesion on the CT a per cutaneous biopsy can also be tried. A bronchoscopy is not always mandatory, it all depends from patient to patient. Either way, the ultimate goal is to get a diagnosis with or without a bronchoscopy.
Next Steps
Consult a pulmonologist with the patient and the CT imaging so that a prompt decision can be taken.
