Breast milk production
Hello, I have delivered baby boy last 1 year back. But he doesn't suck my nipples during breastfeeding. So I need to take out the milk & keep. Please advise

Dear practo user, milk secretion is a complex process of response of brain towards suckling , which in turn stimulates breast to produce and secrete milk.
We need to find out the cause why baby is not sucking, is it because of flat nipple or inadequate quantity of milk or may b the fact that some children refuse breast milk after starting of extra diet.
If baby is showing these symptoms for a few day, the baby might be sick.

Consult a paediatrician. take baby's temperature.
see if he is urinating properly and sleeping properly.

Is it a recent phenomenon or present since the beginning. If it’s since birth, then why ask now after a year, this is weaning time anyway
