I dont usually feel hungry at morning . In the past I have avoided breakfast continuously for many weeks. I am now hearing that breakfast avoidance is risky. What do you think about the potential  medical issue that can arise?

"Not feeling hungry in the morning can be a result of your body's circadian rhythm or a heavy late-night dinner. While 'Intermittent Fasting' is a popular trend, chronic Breakfast Avoidance can have metabolic consequences for some individuals. When you skip breakfast consistently, your body may experience prolonged periods of low blood sugar, which can lead to increased stress hormone (cortisol) production, altered insulin sensitivity, and a potential slowdown in your resting metabolic rate
Next Steps
Watch for 'Compensation': "The biggest risk of skipping breakfast is overeating during lunch or dinner. Monitor your portion sizes for the rest of the day to ensure you aren't consuming excess calories to make up for the missed morning meal." Stay Hydrated: "Even if you aren't hungry, start your morning with a glass of lukewarm water or lemon water to kickstart your metabolism and support liver detoxification." Listen to Your Body: "If you feel energetic and focused without breakfast, you might be naturally suited for a shorter eating window. However, if you feel irritable, 'brain foggy,' or shaky by 11:00 AM, skipping breakfast is likely harming your productivity." Caution: "People with certain conditions, such as Type 2 Diabetes or those prone to gallstones, should generally avoid skipping breakfast, as long fasting periods can complicate blood sugar management and bile concentration."

Taking breakfast is a healthy option,  it provides calories after overnight fasting,  neutralise stomach acid, aids in weight management by avoiding excess eating at mid day, improves cognitive function and focus. However if you do not feel hungry  take small quantity of healthy food.

Skipping breakfast is not automatically dangerous for everyone. Some people naturally do well with a later eating schedule or intermittent fasting. The real concern is how your overall nutrition, energy balance, and metabolism are affected over time. Problems are more likely if breakfast skipping is associated with: * Overeating later in the day * Weight gain or fatty liver * Acidity/gastritis * Fatigue, poor concentration, headaches * Diabetes/prediabetes risk * Irregular sleep and stress If you genuinely do not feel hungry in the morning and your weight, energy, sugars, and digestion are stable, it may simply be your body pattern rather than a disease.
Next Steps
1. Observe for warning signs: * Unintentional weight loss * Persistent lack of appetite all day * Early fullness * Acidity/nausea * Weakness or dizziness * High sugars/cholesterol * Binge eating at night 2. If you frequently skip breakfast, ensure: * Total daily protein and nutrition are adequate * Meal timing is consistent * Late-night junk eating is avoided 3. Consider basic health screening if not done recently: * HbA1c / fasting sugar * Lipid profile * Liver function * Thyroid profile * Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D if fatigue is present 4. If you have gastritis or acidity, completely empty stomachs for long periods may worsen symptoms in some people.
Health Tips
* You do not necessarily need a “heavy breakfast.” Even a light option can help: * Fruits + nuts * Eggs * Curd/yogurt * Protein smoothie * Oats * Avoid compensating by eating very large dinners late at night. * Poor sleep and stress can suppress morning hunger signals. * Regular exercise often improves appetite rhythm naturally. * Hydration in the morning also helps because mild dehydration is sometimes mistaken for poor appetite. A personalized online consultation can help determine whether your breakfast pattern is a healthy intermittent fasting style or whether it is contributing to metabolic issues like acidity, fatigue, insulin resistance, or weight changes.

Not feeling hungry in the morning is quite common and skipping breakfast alone does not automatically cause disease in everyone 👍 What matters more is your overall nutrition, meal timing, lifestyle and any associated symptoms. If you’d like, you can book a consultation and I’ll help assess whether your eating pattern is healthy for your body and routine 😊

Regularly skipping breakfast can cause: • acidity, • dizziness, • overeating later, • low energy, • headaches, • poor concentration, • hair fall or nutritional deficiencies if diet quality is poor.
Next Steps
A healthy approach is: • avoid junk breakfast, • but maintain adequate protein, fiber, fruits, water, sleep, and total nutrition during the day. If you skip breakfast and still feel energetic, maintain good weight, and labs are normal, it can be acceptable. If you develop fatigue, acidity, hair fall, irritability, or binge eating later, it may not suit your body.
