It is important to understand that hormonal changes during pregnancy and lactation can affect oral health, including the condition of dental implants. The fluctuation in hormone levels may contribute to an increased risk of gum inflammation and bone loss, which can potentially impact the stability and longevity of dental implants. However, it's important to note that every individual is different, and the extent of bone loss can vary. With proper oral hygiene practices, regular dental check-ups, and appropriate management, it is often possible to minimize the risk of significant bone loss and maintain the health of the implants. To address your concerns and understand your specific situation better, I recommend consulting with your dentist or an implant specialist. They will be able to evaluate the condition of your dental implants, assess any signs of bone loss, and provide personalized advice and treatment options. They can develop a comprehensive plan to help maintain the health of your implants and prevent further bone loss if necessary. Remember, regular dental care, including proper oral hygiene practices and professional dental check-ups, is essential to maintain the health of your implants and overall oral health. Your dentist or implant specialist will be able to provide the most accurate information and guidance based on your individual case.

Bone loss and peri-implantitis is progressive. Due to presence of bacteria deep in the tissue, it continues to destroy the bone. [Bone loss is measured by comparing X-rays taken over regular intervals.] It is important to start treating the condition by use of local delivery of anti-microbial drugs in case you are breast feeding. Also, the bone grafting procedure for your condition is also not contra-indicated. You can get it done any time whenever you’re ready. Also, you should consume a healthy diet with Calcium and Vitamin D. Maintain good oral hygiene as well.

Can you provide a pic of your area of bone loss and its radiograph? Bone loss can be checked if there is a peri-implant disease and can be attained with the help of bone grafting too. In the meantime, you can take calcium tabs.
