Blood thinner
Hello Doctor Is it advisable to take blood thinner medicine after the age of 50 and particularly in this covid situation to prevent blood clotting? And is it necessary after getting covishield vaccine?? I am asking because we all have taken covishield vaccination and some countries have banned it as they think it causes blood clotting. Thanks Puneet

Routine use, just on the basis of age, without any indication is not advisable. The adverse effect of clotting with covishield is very rare, blood thinners are not required as prophylaxis.

No it is not advisable to all . It can be given to those who are diabetic and after 60 years of age . It’s also not necessary after covisheild vaccine . Some counties have banned it but the research papers don’t suggest any of such side effects You can be assured about that . Don’t worry it’s good vaccine . Just keep taking the safety measures such as social distancing and masks .
