Sir I understand your situation, based on the history you have given I think you should know that there are many reasons which causes blood in stools like haemorrhoids, bleeding ulcers in the gut, anal fissure, people with alcoholic cirrhosis/ liver disease will have dilated vessels near anal canal which might have damaged etc.... Apart from bleeding generally the appearance like bright red, dark colour etc is also helpful in diagnosis of the condition.... So to ruleout this condition clinical examination with certain investigations like colonoscopy if necessary is done... So kindly consult a surgeon for further management....
