Mr.Y
You have already consulted a gastro-enterologist and based on his prescription you seem to have Gastritis with GERD.
Majority of GERD patients can be managed by long term medications and it's only a minority which requires anti reflux surgery.
A few life style modifications are required in the management GERD
Avoid: alcohol, cigarette smoking, binge eating, oily-spicy food, immediately lying down after a meal (preferably lying down after 2 hrs), forced belching...just to name a few.
Try: eating your meals on time, dinner by 8.30pm, exercise, get adequate sleep.
These life style modifications along with medications work for more than 80% of patients.
Regards.
