Bleeding after Wisdom tooth extraction.
I had my upper wisdom tooth extraction. I did it with numb shots. The procedure was very quick and I felt some pressure while pulling out. He said no stitches required for upper wisdom tooth and only lower ones will have stitches. Is that so? No stitches for your upper wisdom tooth removal? How will the hole wound get better and sealed?? And , I am bleeding for more than 6 hours and keep changing my gauzes. How long will the bleeding continue? Is it normal? How to stop bleeding? I am feeling so sleepy and I couldn't sleep because I keep checking on gauzes and changing it every 30 to 45 minutes. How long bleeding is normal and how to stop it?

Dear practo user Don't keep on changing gauze pack, it disturbs blood clot and start fresh bleed. Just take one sterile gauze pack,  keep bite on for 3 to 4 hours. Don't disturb it. Don't  spit and try to see foot blood oozing out or not. If you feel like emergency, contact doctor immediately.

Are you taking all the post operative precautions?? You are not supposed to spit for 24 hours. Swallow your saliva. Do not gargle. Avoid touching your area with your hand or tongue. And you have to apply pressure over the gauze when your mouth is closed. If you getting small blood clots then that's normal unless you suffer from heavy bleeding. Have an ice cream from that side, it will reduce your bleeding. Avoid eating spicy food. Do not take very warm food, take all in room temperature.

Suture isn't required always. 1.buy single tablet Pause 500,crush it and put on a sterile gauze piece and place the gauze over your extracted site.make sure the crushed medicine comes in contact with bleeding socket. Do not push the gauze piece very forcefully inside the socket. 2.keep your mouth closed with the gauze piece + medication for 1 hour hour strictly. 3. After 1 hour wash your hands properly and gently pull out the gauze piece and immediately start having cup ice cream with a spoon If you don't have h/o diabetes. Or, you can place a cleaned(with water) ice cube for 5 minutes. 4.do not touch your tongue at extracted site, for next 24 hours 5.do not spit your saliva, swallow it even if it is blood mixed, for next 24 hours. 6.do not gargle at all,for next 24 hours. 7.cold compression extraorally 8.do not have hot or even warm food for 2 days. Strictly soft and cold or normal temperature diet. 9.dont use straw(plastic) to drink anything. 10.avoid brushing today. Start brushing  from tomorrow afternoon, only if no bleeding tomorrow morning onwards. 11.talk as less as possible, as that area should be as non movable as possible. 12.start doing warm water salt gargle (if h/o hypertension do not use salt in this process) from day after tomorrow. ONLY IF NO SIGNS OF BLEEDING FROM TOMORROW MORNING. 13. You can start mild gargling from tomorrow afternoon if no signs of bleeding from tomorrow morning.

Sometimes you don't require sutures (stitches). Bleeding should stop in first one hour after the surgery. Why do you keep changing gauze or cotton . Plz DON'T Do that .keep it for 1 hour with pressure. Apply cold pack from outside ..for 15 mins . Have ice cream after 1 hour( remove guaze). Don't put gauze again.you are dislodging the clot by doing so. If you have bleeding ...plZ swallow your blood n don't spit.
Next Steps
After doing all these....if bleeding doesn't stop plz contact your dentist immediately.
Health Tips
plz don't touch with your tongue or finger , it may dislodge the clot . Don't spit cold pack on the cheek will help .
