Hello Antidepressants will not help in controlling his manic symptoms. Antidepressant are activating drug and they might cause manic symptoms in Bipolar illness. He needs a mood stabilizer which will prevent further episode of depression or mania. If antidepressant are given they should be given with antipsychotic or mood stabilizer.
