My 2 month old baby did not pass hearing test when he was born. In the latest BERA test it has been diagnosed that he has profound and severe hearing loss. But the audiologist has advised to repeat the BERA test after 2 months. Why is this for? Is there any hope that the condition will improve after 2 months ?

Sometimes there can be delayed mylenation of the auditory nerve. So hearing could still improve but a hearing conditioning with hearing aid should be initiated asap
