Bangalore sarjapur road
Hi, for keeping under only IV and not admit to ICU, where can we go around sarjapur rd, Bangalore? H1N1 diagnosed for relative, been 2 days. If IV required, is there a ward ? Places like manipal or sakra won't keep in ER for long, they ll direct to ICU only.

Most confirmed H1N1 patients do not need an ICU at all - a general isolation ward with IV fluids and oseltamivir is enough, and any decent multispeciality or even a good nursing home with an inpatient ward can do this. The single thing that decides ward versus ICU is oxygen saturation and breathing effort, not the diagnosis label. If room-air SpO2 stays 94% or above with no breathlessness, ask for admission under a general physician in the isolation ward and refuse the ICU upsell. Big corporate hospitals route flu cases to ICU as policy, so a mid-sized hospital is often the sensible choice here.
Next Steps
Track SpO2 and respiratory rate every 4 hours at home, continue oseltamivir for the full 5 days with paracetamol and fluids, and rush in only if SpO2 falls below 94% or breathing gets laboured. Book a Practo consult with me if you want me to review the reports and tell you whether admission is really needed.
