Back pain when on rides
I will narrate the entire story so you might have a better understanding I had purchased Bullet 350 UCE a couple of months back. I am getting some back-ache since then. The pain is in the upper part of back when i ride for like more than 40km at a time To be exact, the pain is on left side of the back - where the neck ends and shoulders start I think the cause for this pain is the handle bar of the bullet. I think my hands are getting too much stretched for holding the handle bars.I am 5'7" tall and am overweight(im working on reducing the weight) I have already got the stock handle bars lowered to certain extent for comfort, but I think that is not enough. Please do advice

Find the position of the handle which is most comfortable for you. Along with that you need to start working on the muscles around the shoulder blade. You probably lack static control and the small muscles which give you stability are getting fatigued and giving you pain. Thorough assessment needs to be done. Working on weight loss will definitely help
Next Steps
See a sports physiotherapist (if in Mumbai find Flex Physiotherapy Centre, Babulnath).
Health Tips
Avoid long rides till you see the concerned person. it will cause unnecessary irritation of the tendons.

If the ergonomics of the bike do not suit you then the pain will continue to bother you. As you are working on reducing weight, also work on strengthening your neck and back muscles. Work on core strengthening and also strengthen tour shoulders. If you still have issues try with a different handlebar which is more comfortable. If that too does not work you will not have m7ch choice apart from changing your bike. Hope this helps. Dr Vinu Raj Consultant Spine Surgeon MBBS MRCS FRCS(Trauma&Orth)
