Hi, this is Dr Mathur from Fortis C Doc Hospital, New Delhi. Pain in the spine at your age is mainly postural but can arise due to multiple other causes. Thus it is necessary to find the cause of your pain. How long have you had the pain and do you have any fever or loss of weight or appetite? Is the pain only confined to the back or radiating to the legs as well? Please get the following blood tests fasting: HB, TLC, DLC, ESR, calcium, phosphorus, Alkaline phosphatase, vitamin D levels, PTH, HLA B27, uric acid along with x rays of the area of spine with maximum pain. In the meantime you can start tablet Zinase D twice a day after meals, Tab Corcium K2 once a day in the evening and tablet Pantocid 40 milligrams once a day before breakfast for 1 week to relieve the pain. Some hot fomentation up to 3 times a day will also help. Avoid prolonged sitting, weight lifting or forward bending. Revert back with investigation reports.
