Baby suddenly looking slimmer.
Hello doctor,
My baby has turned into 5 months yesterday. He was born on March 4th with weight of 3.3 kg and on 21 st July his weight was 7.4 kg. He has started rolling and also trying to crawl . Also suddenly he started looking slimmer from previous month.I am attaching his current photo and previous month photo of 4 month. Also he has started grasping everything he gets like hair , clothes and take directly into mouth. Also he has started eating his hands so is it time to introduce solid to him also when I offer feed to him he grasps so tightly and eat.the bottle nipple tightly what does that.mean .also my in laws suggest to give him sbl medicine that will help him.in gums and teeth . Please suggest why he is suddenly looking slim and his face looking so small. Yellow one is 4 month.

Your baby’s weight is appropriate for his age and it’s reassuring that all his milestones are also appropriate. These are normal growth spurts where you suddenly feel baby is looking slimmer despite his weight and length would be appropriate as per growth charts.
Getting all things to his mouth (mouthing)is a normal developmental stage but you need to exclusively breast feed till 6 months and solids should be introduced at 6 months. There is no need for any medicine except vitamin D drops.

His weight is absolutely fine. He is not underweight. Babies develop mouthing( putting everything in mouth) around 4/5 months. That’s normal too. Start with complementary feeding after 6 months of age.
