Baby's hearing in pregnancy
Hello I just read an article which says that shouting & screaming affects a baby's hearing. Is it true? I'm currently in 26 weeks & I've been to the movies twice only till now. Could this be of any harm?

Hello , babies  can hear from 18th weeks onwards also before that they can feel vibrations. So though movies have large sound effects , that much two times exposure will not cause any harm. Your baby is well protected inside womb. Regular loud noices could harm baby. But that is also not full proof. When I was working in government set up, I used to get patients who used to work in construction business on daily basis, exposed to loud noise all the time. But there babies turned out to be fine always. So don't worry! Don't Panic! Enjoy your pregnancy . Also we can not test hearing of baby inside womb. We only can check structure of ears not functions.  So routinely we do hearing test for all babies after birth. Also if needs to confirm any problem we do advanced test I.e. Bera test. These test names are just for knowledge. Enjoy your journey of pregnancy and motherhood ahead . Regards, Dr.Prajakta Mahajan Fertiflix Women's Clinic Pune

Yes. It is true. As I am mentioned in answer to some other questions, babies have a sleep cycle. To wake them up we use sound waves. So if babies can be woken up by sound waves then surely they are affected by sound waves.
