After a Grade-2 ATFL ankle sprain complicated by infection requiring incision and drainage, it is common for swelling to persist for several weeks, even after the infection has resolved. Since your CRP and ESR are normal, ongoing infection is unlikely; the remaining swelling is usually due to ligament injury, soft-tissue inflammation, and lymphatic edema from the surgery and trauma. Swelling can take 8–12 weeks or longer to fully settle in such cases. Elevation, ankle compression if advised gradual activity modification, and avoiding prolonged standing help reduce it if swelling remains unchanged becomes painful or is associated with redness or warmth a clinical review and repeat imaging USG/MRI may be needed to rule out residual ligament or soft tissue issues
