Hi I recently started going to gym - went for a week weight lifting basic After 1 day rest - took blood tests Liver values ast alt high These were normal in May month report and ultrasound was also fine

It’s very likely that this spike in AST & ALT is due to muscle breakdown from recent intense workouts. These enzymes are not only found in the liver but also in muscles — especially AST. Strenuous Exercise can increase AST & ALT levels but your reports are very less likely for it. Most important cause is Alcohol induced liver damage. *SGOT : SGPT ratio is above 2 *AST is increased twice as ALT Both the above points in your test report are indicative in favour of Alcoholic liver disease If you are non alcoholic then further tests will be required to find the cause of disease.
