Ask some question related to virechana
I felt acidity since last 6 months. Before 15 days my ayurvedic doctor suggested me for virechana. Last saturday I completed my virechana process 13 loose motion but not feel tired after that I took concenrated warm lemon juice. After virechana I felt more acidity. My doctor again suggested me that next friday  you will take two days ghee and steam massage and then next day virechan tablet. Shall I do again virechana or not. Please give some valuable advice

Virechana, also known as purgation therapy, is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment used to detoxify the body by eliminating excess Pitta dosha, which is often associated with the digestive system. Acidity, or acid reflux, occurs when the stomach's acid flows back into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, discomfort, and indigestion. From an Ayurvedic perspective, acidity can be related to an imbalance of pita - Virechana may help reduce Pitta imbalance, which is a common root cause of acidity. - Proper Ayurvedic management, including diet, lifestyle modifications, and herbal remedies, can help control acidity.

Thanks for explaining your case in detail — it helps in giving precise advice. You’re doing well by choosing Ayurvedic detox (Virechana) for chronic acidity, but the right timing, preparation (Purva Karma), and recovery care (Paschat Karma) are very critical. 🧪 Based on Your Current Situation: ✳️ Summary of What Happened: You’ve had acidity for 6 months. You did Virechana 1 week ago (13 bowel movements, no fatigue). Post-Virechana, instead of relief, acidity increased. Doctor is suggesting another Virechana soon. 🌿 Ayurvedic Insight Virechana is very effective for Pitta imbalance (which causes acidity), but if: It’s done too soon again Digestive fire (Agni) is weak post-first Virechana Paschat Karma (post-care) is skipped or wrong (e.g., lemon juice right after Virechana is too acidic) ➡️ Then it may aggravate acidity instead of curing it. ❗My Honest Advice: ✅ 1. Do NOT repeat Virechana so soon Let your agni and gut lining heal first. Doing Virechana again within 7–10 days of previous one is not advised unless extremely necessary and with perfect pitta balance. ✅ 2. Now focus on: Restoring digestive fire (Agni) Healing your gut lining (which is likely irritated) Following Paschat Karma diet strictly for 7–10 days 🔁 Post-Virechana Recovery (What to Do Now) 🥣 Diet (Very Important) Time Food Day 1–3 Manda (rice water), light green moong dal, no oil, no lemon Day 4–7 Khichdi, bottle gourd, pumpkin, soft veggies with cumin and ghee No Tea, lemon, tomato, spicy food, pickle, curd, milk, raw salad Drink warm water only. Avoid cold water or drinks. 🌿 Ayurvedic Medicines to Calm Pitta & Acidity for that you have to consult us. 🧘‍♂️ Lifestyle Wake up by 6:30 AM, sleep by 10 PM Avoid screen use after dinner Walk slowly after meals for digestion Avoid mental stress or anger (Pitta aggravates with stress) ❓Should You Do Virechana Again? Only after 4–6 weeks, and only if: Your digestive fire is stable Your current acidity improves Paschat Karma is well followed 👉 Then the second Virechana may help deeply. If you'd like, I can make a 7-day post-Virechana meal plan or herbal kit to balance acidity gently. Let me know 🙏

Hello, Acidity in ayurveda can be correlated with " अम्लपित्त" Amlapitta. Amlapitta is also categorized again in 2 types 1: Kapha predominant 2. Vata predominant Your symptoms decide which type is yours and your treatment modality will highly depend on the same. Given that you already have done virechan your Ayurvedic Dr will have definitely done your prakruti parikshan and will have opted this procedure. If you have been feeling lately more of acidity then it might be Atiyog lakshan of Virechan karma. This type of symptoms do have a solution like consumption of pitta shamak medicines, etc.
Next Steps
Please consult your treating Dr for the same.

Virechana is a powerful cleansing therapy best done under strict supervision. Sometimes, after the first virechana, temporary aggravation of acidity can happen due to imbalance in digestion (Agni). Before proceeding with the second virechana, ensure your digestion is well settled. Follow your doctor’s advice on ghee intake and steam massage carefully—they prepare the body for effective detox. If acidity worsens or persists, discuss with your doctor about adjusting the treatment or considering alternative therapies. Always listen to your body and avoid rushing repeat purgation.
