Any danger to organs?
Hi doctor, I recently diagnosed diabetic all of sudden after 21 days of covid. Sugar level reached till 470. I started met 500 once in day. But it seems.sugar level is static . Fasting sugar is always around 170-180 and PP sugar is around 220-230. My a1c was 6.2 on 25th Feb when I first got Covid. I am worried if such high sugar all of sudden can cause any organ damage now when I am recovering from.covid ??

Your initial Hba1c prior to COVID is showing prediabetes. COVID infection as well as steroids that are used for treating COVID can worsen prediabetes to diabetes. Your fasting and PP sugars on metformin are not controlled. High sugars can cause organ damage in the form retinal changes, cataracts, liver inflammation, neuropathy and in the longer term kidney problem, heart attacks and strokes.
