I’ve been feeling very anxious about my HIV testing. My exposure in mumbai. Here’s a summary of the tests I’ve done:
1. HIV-1 RNA PCR test at 34 days – Negative
2. HIV-2 RNA PCR test at 34 days – Negative
3. HIV 4th Generation test at 45 days – Non-reactive
4. HIV 4th Generation test at 87 days – Non-reactive
I feel confident that I'm negative for HIV-1, but I’m still a bit unsure about HIV-2. Do I need to wait until 6 months for a conclusive result for HIV-2?

Hi . Will need further history regarding the same to advise appropriately. You may be having health anxiety. Consult online for further evaluation and management
Thank you for sharing the details of your HIV testing. Based on the information you’ve provided — including a negative HIV-1 and HIV-2 RNA PCR at 34 days and non-reactive 4th generation HIV tests at both 45 and 87 days — the results are highly reassuring.
A 4th generation HIV test done at 87 days (around 12 weeks) is generally considered conclusive for both HIV-1 and HIV-2. The chances of HIV-2 being missed at this stage are extremely low, especially considering its rare prevalence in India.
It’s natural to feel anxious after a potential exposure, even with negative test results. However, if your worry is ongoing or affecting your peace of mind, I strongly recommend you book a consultation with me so we can discuss your concerns in more detail and address them appropriately.
