Hello! Thank you for reaching out. I hear that you have been facing immense distress and discomfort since the past few days and have been taking pills for sleep. I also hear you have been disinterested and have recurrent thoughts going on, even as there is nothing major around you that seems to bother you. I’m sorry you are going through this and that can understand it would be very scary to deal with. These have been some really challenging times that are happening around us and it is expected that you would be feeling some effects of the same on yourself. While it can be distressing to not be able to sleep, we would recommend you not to take sleeping pills without a prescription of a licensed psychiatrist. If taken without the advice of a psychiatrist, these could cause problems like dizziness, drowsiness, fluctuating blood pressure among others- much of which you have reported facing. A psychiatrist is a mental health professional who prescribes medication. While everything seems normal, sometimes we have underlying issues that we are not aware of by ourselves. It can be difficult especially dealing with them when you don’t know the cause. Your distress and trouble in dealing with your thoughts, there could be multiple reasons regarding the same. These can be safely and easily explored in counselling, where you would be able to understand why and how you can deal with this distress that you are facing. A counsellor is a trained mental health professional who will understand and explore your issues in depth and provide you the space to ease out of this mental agony that you are in. Please reach out to professional mental health practitioners from organisations or independent set ups for the same! Credits: Parul Pushkarna, Intern at Heart It Out

Hello there! It's good that you are able to identify the significant change in your day-to-day life activities. It's beneficial to address the issue in hand rather than suppressing it for "time being".
Next Steps
consult a mental health professional to assist you in identifying the root cause and addressing the issue as earliest as possible so that you could get back to your routine.

Hi... Our mind is more powerful than we think it is, but it also has a physiological base. When the neuro-chemistry of the brain is hampered, it hardly matters what exactly is the cause. The way you have explained it, it seems the cause is more psychosocial which can be addressed by therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). If the root is more biological/genetic in nature, medication plays a bigger role. But in your case, I suppose, the use of medication will be minimal. Regulating a healthy routine in terms of proper and timely Meals, Sleep, Exercise, Breathing/Meditation will help you get back your control over your mind. Please do not ignore these warning signs of your body and mind.
Next Steps
Start Counselling/Psychotherapy from a Psychologist. If required, take psychiatric consultation as well. Start practicing any Breathing Technique (Deep Breathing, Alternate Nostril Breathing) daily for 20-25 min morning and evening. Also, start any physical exercise/sport daily for 40-45 minutes.

You need to meet a psychologist who can help you and guide you if you require any medications. We need to first try to find out if there is a specific emotional trigger for you. First aid for your panic attacks will help you handle them well.
