Antibiotic sensitivity
Hi my dad has urine infection. Doctor suggested to do anti biotic sensitivity test. The report has many anti biotic with resistant and many with sensitive. Can anyone explain what is the meaning of resistant and sensitive? Which one should be given to patient?

Hello there. I can understand your concern. Resistant means that the bacteria which grew on culture doesn't die with that antibiotics. Sensitive means, the bacteria dies with that antibiotic. The drugs to which it is sensitive is to be given. Which of those to be given is decided by the doctor. Best regards. Dr. Anil Kumar Jain. Bangalore.
