Which Vitamin supplements to take

2026-03-10 01:45:46
I am a 25-year-old male (178 cm). I recently did a Thyrocare “Healthy 2026” blood test and several values were abnormal. My main results are: Vitamin D 7.2 ng/mL (severely low), Vitamin B12 155 pg/mL (low), Folate 3 ng/mL (low). Lipids: Triglycerides 272 mg/dL (high), HDL 35 mg/dL (low), LDL 122 mg/dL (borderline high), TG/HDL ratio 7.87. Fasting glucose 109 mg/dL and HbA1c 5.7% (borderline prediabetes). ESR is 40 mm/hr. Ferritin 51 ng/mL, iron profile, thyroid, liver, kidney, zinc and urine tests are normal. My diet is mostly vegetarian with occasional eggs, and I walk ~6000 steps daily. Based on these results, what supplements or treatments would you recommend (e.g., Vitamin D, B12, folate, omega-3, etc.), and what dosages or duration would typically be appropriate?

Based on your reports: Vitamin D (7.2 – severely low): Take Vitamin D3 60,000 IU once weekly for 8 weeks, then once monthly for maintenance. Take with a fat-containing meal. Vitamin B12 (155 – low): Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg daily for 2–3 months or weekly injections if advised. Folate (3 – low): Folic acid 5 mg daily for 3 months. High Triglycerides (272) & Low HDL: Omega-3 (1000–2000 mg/day) Reduce sugar, refined carbs, and fried foods Increase walking to 8000–10,000 steps/day Prediabetes (HbA1c 5.7): Focus on high-fiber diet, protein in each meal, weight control, and regular exercise. ESR high: Check for inflammation/infection and improve diet quality. Repeat blood tests after 8–12 weeks.

Your reports show severe Vitamin D deficiency, low B12 & folate, high triglycerides, and early insulin resistance. This combination is quite common in young adults with mostly vegetarian diets and needs a structured nutrition + supplementation plan, not just random vitamins. Usually we correct Vitamin D, B12 and folate first, while simultaneously working on triglycerides and prediabetes through diet, omega-3 sources, fibre intake and lifestyle changes. With the right diet strategy and targeted supplements, these markers can improve significantly within 8–12 weeks. If you’d like, I can help you with a personalized nutrition and supplement plan based on your report.

Looks like your metabolism rate is too low. Vital deficiency indicates low metabolic rate. You can start with constitution check and go accordingly. That will indicate the exact requirement and on that basis you can do the best diet change.
